Nice proof on laid paper, copper-cut, presenting a composition in a hexagonal format. Signature of the print dealer Thomas-Charles Naudet with the date of 1814, on the reverse in brown ink. Naudet was a well-known print dealer who worked in the Louvre from about 1778 until about 1827. He signed each of the prints he sold. His prints are known to be of good quality. He signs here ” Chez Naudet Md au Louvre 1814 “.

Eighteenth century print from Sacrae Historiae Acta a Raphaele Urbin… by Nicolas Chaperon, published by Pierre Mariette. The French painter Chaperon was a student of Simon Vouet and went to Rome in 1640 to paint under Poussin. This suite of 54 plates, his most famous work, was engraved after Raphael’s biblical frescoes in the Vatican. Signed in the plate: left, R.V.I. – right, N.C.F. 4 – “Typis P. Mariette Via jacobea…” In the center, ‘Creauit omnem animam uiuentem Secundum Specem Suam’ Gen. C. I.

Dimensions of the hexagonal sheet: H. 190 mm x L. 317 mm.

Condition: traces of mounting on the back with remains of paper.
